Denzel Writes A Check And Ashanti Performs For The Boys & Girls Club
Denzel Washington donated $50,000 to the struggling New Mexico Roswell Boys & Girls Club.
Denzel, who is a spokesman for the organization, is filming the movie The Book of Eli in Albuquerque, and heard through media reports that the club expected to close because of financial troubles. So, true to his commitment to the club that help him when he was young, Denzel decided to help.
He also challenged Roswell residents to match his donation and they are responding.
Ashanti was also doing her thing for BGCA. She performed for more than 1,400 Club teens during the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s 42nd annual National Keystone Conference sponsored by the Taco Bell Foundation for Teens in Atlanta.
Ashanti, a club alum, joins the organizations BE GREAT Advocacy campaign, encouraging young people to BE INSPIRING.
