DNA Testing Delays Sherman Hemsley Probate Trial

Sherman Hemsley is still not buried as the court awaits the results of DNA tests to determine if the man claiming to be his brother is really the late actor’s brother. When Sherman passed away two months ago Richard Thornton came forward questioning the validity of his will which leave his estate to his friend, Flora Isela Enchinton.

Thornton wants the estate and the body, which has been in a funeral home’s freezer since his death. The judge says the DNA testing must be done by October 15th and a hearing has been set for October 30th to determine who gets the body.

Added to the drama, another man, claiming to be a relative, has come forward saying neither Flora nor Thornton should get Sherman’s body as there is a plot next to his mother’s grave in Philadelphia awaiting the actor.

Sherman’s estate is said to be worth more than $50,000.
