E’Dena Hines, the step-granddaughter of actor Morgan Freeman was stabbed to death in New York City. The 33-year-old was found lying in the middle of W. 162nd near with several knife wounds to her chest around 3 a.m., reports the NY Daily News.
A 30-year-old man, who is said to be her boyfriend, was found kneeling over her body making some sort of religious statements, according to the police. The man was taken into custody and the knife was recovered at the scene. E’Dena was rushed to the hospital but she could not be saved.
Morgan released a statement on the tragedy saying,
“The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
E’Dena is the granddaughter of Morgan’s first wife, Jeannette Adair Bradshaw. They were married from 1967 until 1979.
