Regina King Wins Emmy For American Crime

Regina King took home an Emmy at the 2015 Emmy awards last night. The actress, who got her start on 227, won the gold for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Series/Movie for her role on American Crime. This was her first nomination.

She brought her son as her date and thanked him during her speech, saying, “My son, Ian, the fact that I get to share this night with you – the best date in the house. I love you.”

Watch her speech below:

She now joins a very short list of Black actresses who’ve also won in that category. Ester Rolle won for her role in 1979 for Summer Of My German Soldier.

Congrats to her.
