Will Smith gave an update on the status of third installment of Bad Boys, titled Bad Boys For Life. He tells Jimmy Kimmel filming is very close. His costar Martin Lawrence previously said filming will start next year and the film will be released 2018. Will says he’s looking forward to working with Martin again.
“Let me tell you, I love that dude. That’s among the best times I’ve ever had making movies. So I’m looking forward to it…It is very, very, very close. It is very, very close. It’s very close.”
Not returning for the third installment is director Michael Bay. The latest will be helmed by Joe Carnahan.
“Some of the issues that the character is dealing with are so profoundly perfectly timed for what I was experiencing in my life. It was just a fantastic opportunity to grow as an actor while I was growing as a man.
I think more than ever I see — and intellectually I’ve accepted [but] it’s still difficult emotionally — I understand that suffering is how we grow…Even in my life with Jada, like I’m a hopeless romantic, but romance is not love. That’s not what love is. That fluffy, fancy, pretty stuff is actually anti-love. It keeps you away from love. Love is really born of surviving with somebody.”
Will is currently promoting his latest movie Collateral Beauty which opens December 16th.
