Just three months after having their son, Janet Jackson and husband Wissam Al Mana have separated. According to the Daily Mail, the 50-year-old singer and Qatari billionaire amicable decided to end their 5-year marriage.
A source, who is said to be a close friend of Janet’s, told The Mail, “Sadly, Janet and Wissam have decided that it wasn’t working and to go their separate ways. They’re both busy people but determined to be good parents, even if they’re apart. It’s amicable and Eissa will stay with his mother, who is basing herself in London.”
Page Six reports that trouble has been brewing for months:
“She thought he had become too controlling during the pregnancy and she had already allowed him to dictate her appearance and even the way she performed at concerts,” the source who works closely with the couple said.
Other demands that the “Rhythm Nation” singer gave in to included toning down her 2014 concert tour — wearing clothing that covered her body, instead of the skin-revealing outfits fans had grown to love.
She also declined to do music videos that featured any bumping and grinding, trademarks of her work, the source said.
“It drove her crazy and she felt she was losing her fan base.”
Reportedly, the last straw for Janet was when her mother, Katherine Jackson, recently claimed elder abuse at the hands of nephew Trent Jackson. Wissam is said to have show “little to no concern” prompting Janet to decide to end things.
This is her third marriage, she was briefly married to singer James DeBarge in 1984 and back-up dancer Rene Elizondo.
