Charlie Murphy has died following a battle with leukemia. The 57-year-old comedian’s death was confirmed by his manager.
TMZ broke the news that Charlie died in a NYC hospital. His manager says he’d been going through chemo.
He was Eddie Murphy’s older brother and co-wrote some of Eddie’s movies. He co-starred on “Chappelle Show” in some of Dave’s most memorable skits … including the night he partied with Prince.
The Murphy family released a statement, saying:
“Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend Charlie.
Charlie filled our family with love and laughter and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed.
Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us.”
Charlie lost his wife to cancer back in 2009. He leaves behind three children.
