Serena Williams Gets Record Fine

Serena Williams was slapped with a fined of $82,500 for her outburst during this year’s U.S. Open. This fine sets a record as the highest fine for a Grand Slam offense. If Serena has another major offense in the next two years the fine would change to $175,000 and she would be suspended from the U.S. Open the following year.
The incident took place when Serena launched a profanity laced tirade against a lineswoman (on the right in the cap) after a foot-fault call.
Serena issued a statement after the fine was announced saying, “I am thankful that we now have closure on the incident, and we can all move forward.”
