LisaRaye Not ‘First-Lady Material’
Apparently, LisaRaye McCoy-Misick was never really welcomed in the Turks and Caicos Islands by many when she married Premier Michael Misick. A lot of the locals never liked her because she was sassy, American, liked skimpy outfits, and never did make the rounds at all the island’s churches. Her role as a stripper in the movie Player’s Club and photo spread in the men’s urban magazine Smooth didn’t help.
LisaRaye’s April 2008 Smooth magazine spread sent the islanders into a tizzy. She was accused of sending their country into “ill-repute.” The pictures used were old pictures of LisaRaye.
”I don’t think she was first-lady material,” said Angela Tucker Arthur, a member of the opposition party. “How’s he going to bring a half-naked woman down here and call her his first lady? You have plenty of Christians and elderly who will never accept that.”
When Misick put his wife in an ad campaign to promote the islands, members of his politcal party were appalled at their leader’s lavish lifestyle and wrote him a letter telling him so (read letter here, especially complaints 5, 9, 10.)
The governing party was worried last year about rumors that the couple planned to star in a reality show, but the opposition party was troubled by something worse.
Instead of worrying about LisaRaye’s clothes and where she is from, the people of TCI should be worried about the continious scandals surrounding their premier. Such as:
The oppostion accused Misick of massive government corruption, and questioned how a man whose salary is $150,000 — and who declared his net worth at $50,000 when he took office five years ago — managed to build a $2.5 million beachfront mansion modeled after the White House.
TCI is undergoing a massive development boom and opposition politicians question whether government officials are getting rich from it.
”A brother can’t make some money?” said Lloyd Stubbs, a spokesman for the premier’s Progressive National Party. “It’s not like he bought a $10 million house out of his pocket. He is paying a bank loan. Michael is a businessman.”
When the British started to investigate the allegations, someone started to burn down the courthouses there, mainly the ones that held important records. The British government sent a commission to look into the corruption allegations.
Besides being accused of corruption, Misick was accused of a rape that is now being called a threesome and he allegedly assaulted a Member of Parliament, Arthur Robinson, who was videotaping him returning to the islands from one of his many trips on a private jet.
