Oprah Receives Leadership Award From Columbia University
Oprah Winfrey received a leadership award from Columbia University.
Oprah received the 2009 Klingenstein Leadership Award Friday for her philanthropy in education and promotion of reading, reports the Associated Press.
The award is given by The Klingenstein Center for Independent School Leadership at Teachers College at Columbia University.
Oprah’s Angel Network has helped open 60 schools in 13 countries while her foundation has awarded hundreds of grants and scholarships. She also opened the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.
Oprah’s Book Club has propelled dozens of books onto best-seller lists.
