Former Tennis Pro James Blake Tackled, Slammed To The Ground By NYPD

Proving they have learned nothing, five New York City Police officers tackled former tennis star James Blake and slammed him to the ground all in a case of mistaken identity. James, who was waiting for a car to take him to the U.S. Open, was standing and texting on his phone when he says he saw someone charging at him. He was than tackled and thrown to the ground and told not to say anything.

Asked if he thinks race was a factor in how he was attacked, James says, “I don’t know if it’s as simple as that. To me it’s as simple as unnecessary police force, no matter what my race is. In my mind there’s probably a race factor involved, but no matter what Read more

Stuart Scott Passes Away At 49

Stuart Scott
Longtime ESPN anchor Stuart Scott died Sunday morning at the age of 49. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and after surgery and treatment he appeared to have beaten but it reoccurred in 2013.

Stuart made several catchphrases famous during his broadcasts including: “Boo-Yah,” “As cool as the other side of the pillow” and “He must be the bus driver cuz he was takin’ him to school.”

At the ESPYS in 2014, shortly before his 49th birthday and following another round of cancer surgery, Stuart was awarded the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance and said during his acceptance speech: “When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.” He was certainly a shining example of that.

He leaves his beloved daughters, Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15.

Rest in peace, Stu. You fought the good fight.
