Jill Scott Responds To Lawsuit
Jill Scott’s rep released this statement in response to the lawsuit filed against her by her former label Hidden Beach Recordings.
The lawsuit filed on February 3, 2010 by Hidden Beach Recordings against Jill Scott has no legal merit and misrepresents the history of Ms. Scott’s relationship with the label. Jill Scott has the legal right to terminate her recording contract with Hidden Beach Recordings under California’s 7-year rule, where she had been a recording artist for more than 10 years. During her time at Hidden Beach Recordings, she released several highly successful albums. At this time, with many creative projects in the works which include music, film and television roles and product development, Ms. Scott looks forward to continuing to further her artistry and building the Jill Scott brand in other creative environments.
?uestlove Involved In NBC Menu Controversy
So yesterday ?uestlove from The Roots posted a picture on Tweeter of the menu from NBC cafeteria which was honoring Black History Month and it kicked of a the questions if NBC was being racist with the menu. ?uestlove didn’t really say it was racist, he implied it. His caption with the picture was: “Hmm HR?” Later when the controversy started he Tweeted: “i think i need a twitter break. i done started something. and now i must put out fire.”
The menu which consisted of fried chicken, collard greens and black-eyed peas was switched after he posted the picture on Twitter with a grilled chicken-based dish.
Kevin Goldman, NBC’s vice president of communications, tweeted: “The sign in the NBCU cafeteria has been removed. We apologize for anyone who was offended by it.”
The cook, who is Black, says she has tried for a while to get soul food featured on the menu during Black History Month and this is the second time she has been allowed to do it. My question is are you offended by the menu? I’m thinking if it was Jamaican History Month and they decided to have a menu with Oxtail, Rice and Peas with some plantains would I be offended? Nope.
Are we sometimes too quick on the offense? Let me know by leaving a comment or taking the poll below.
