The BET Honors 2014 was taped yesterday in Washington D.C. Hosted by Wayne Brady, the BET Honors celebrated and recognized the gifts and contributions of five African American exceptional leaders. The BET Honors 2014 honorees are: Aretha Franklin, Musical Arts Award; Berry Gordy, Visionary Award; Kenneth Chenault, Corporate Citizen Award; Carrie Mae Weems, Visual Arts Award and Ice Cube, Entertainment Award.
The show featured performances by Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monae, Tamar Braxton, Smokey Robinson and Karen Clarke Sheard. Read more
Jennifer Hudson was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame today. The singer/actress was accompanied by her fiance David Otunga, son David Jr and her family. She choked up when giving her acceptance speech she said, “I’m sure my mom is in heaven like, ‘Jenny stop crying!’ But now’s the time to cry mama.”

The singer/actress will be recognized at the event known as “Washington’s most interesting mix of music and politics,” for her artistic achievements and generosity as a philanthropist.

Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, and Usher have all signed on for a one-hour special to celebrate the life of Whitney Houston. “We Will Always Love You: A GRAMMY® Salute To Whitney Houston” will take place on October 11th in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre. More performers are expected to be added to the show.
The one-hour special will celebrate the late singer’s life and artistry through interviews and performances from various artists and will include some of Whitney’s most memorable performances and never-before-seen footage and exclusive interviews, along with artists sharing their memories of her.
