VH1 has canceled Single Ladies after three seasons. It was produced by Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment and was VH1’s first hourlong scripted series. “We’ve been proud to deliver three seasons of the drama, romance and style that engaged viewers in each episode of Single Ladies. Although we’ve decided not to move forward with another season, we hope to work again with the talented cast, creatives and producers as well as our partners at Flavor Unit Entertainment in the near future. We also thank the show’s fans for their support since the premiere in 2011,” VH1 said in a statement.

In isn’t she too old for that? news, LisaRaye McCoy, 45, stars in Lapdance as a stripper. Also dancing at what must be called the Geriatric Palace, are Nia Peeples, 51, and Carmen Electra, 41. I don’t frequent strip clubs but I’m guessing patrons prefer their dancer a little less long in the tooth. LisaRaye is rumored to be dating Bishop Noel Jones and if true I’m sure this won’t sit well with the congregation.
LisaRaye McCoy’s ex-husband Michael Misick, former premiere to Turks and Caicos, has been arrested in Brazil. He had on the run since fleeing the TCI in 2009 after resigning amidst a corruption scandal. He was arrested on an Interpol warrant for allegations of corruption, misusing public money and profiting from the sale of government land to developers.
He was detained by Brazil’s federal police in Rio de Janeiro as he was about to board a plane for Sao Paulo on Friday and will now be extradited back to the Caribbean islands to stand trial.
Sidenote: LisaRaye never received her divorce settlement from Misick who reportedly amassed a $180-million fortune.
VH1 has renewed Single Ladies for a third season. The network gave the green light ahead of the show’s season finale on Monday, August 27th. The show has been averaging 3.2 million, up 10% from season one.
“Our viewers’ love affair with Single Ladies got even bigger this year, growing significantly from its successful first season and dominating its timeslot on basic cable,” said Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President of Original Programming & Production, VH1. “We’re extremely happy that we’ll be able to give the audience another great season of the series and its honest, current take on love, dating and female friendship.”
The comedy/drama stars LisaRaye McCoy, Denise Vasi, and Charity Shea. Season 3 is set to premiere later in 2013.
